In ancient Roman, the fascinum was an embodiment of the divine phallus, it was hung in the entrance to houses - an item of apotropaic magic, charged to keep away the evil eye, bringing good luck, protection and fertility to the household. 

Emilie Pugh is a British artist who studied at Byam shaw school of Art and The Ruskin School of Fine Art and currently lives and works in London. She has exhibited in London , Paris, Berlin and Miami. Solo shows include ; Motions of the Mind , Michael Goedhuis Gallery, London, The Cob Gallery, Kunsthalle m3, Berlin. Group shows include; PAD London 2017, Masterpiece London 2017, Art Basel Miami 2016, Box Ladder, East Wing XI Biennale Courtauld, Somerset House along side Julie Mehretu and Bridge Riley
